SELECTION GUIDE

Choosing a 7-, 8- or 9-axis welding workstation

Start with the component and the welds. Axis count describes motion; it does not by itself establish weld quality, output or suitability.

Compare the motion arrangement

The 7-axis rail-guided configuration combines a six-axis arm with a travel axis. The 8-axis cantilever configuration adds two external axes; the 9-axis arrangement uses three external linear axes. Compare the actual travel, arm reach and mounting arrangement for the proposed model rather than choosing by the largest number.

Check access before coverage

A workpiece may fit inside the travel range while a weld remains inaccessible. Review torch angle, camera clearance, ribs, flanges, fixtures, cable routing and repositioning. A representative drawing and a process review are more useful than overall dimensions alone.

Evaluate a representative production cycle

Include loading, clamping, scanning, positioning, welding, cleaning, repositioning and unloading in a trial. Compare the same component, weld requirements and acceptance criteria. Confirm software functions and any measured cycle time in the proposed configuration; this website does not promise a universal productivity gain.

General selection guidance. Actual feasibility, configuration and acceptance criteria require review of your component and project conditions.
