H-section components
Provide beam length, flange width, section height, plate thickness and the position of brackets and stiffeners. Identify fillet welds, vertical welds and any wrap-around requirements. Review whether the component can remain fixed or needs turning to achieve the required welding positions.
Box columns and enclosed spaces
Plan the assembly sequence before closing the section. Internal welds may need to be completed while the structure is open. Check torch and scanner access at each stage; do not assume an external-reach specification also covers the inside of a closed box.
Ribs, diaphragms and acceptance
Review spacing, surrounding plate heights, tack welds and the required approach angle together. The welding application guide contains reference clearances for specific torch geometry; these are not universal minimums. Agree sample inspection and acceptance requirements before confirming equipment suitability.
General selection guidance. Actual feasibility, configuration and acceptance criteria require review of your component and project conditions.
